Brabrabra – the very special Mango show
„Brabrabra ist eine Girl-Group aus Berlin, die sich in ihren Pop-Miniaturen sanft zwischen weirder Exotica, New Wave Sprenkseln und Power-Pop Balladen bewegt und das ganze immer mal wieder mit ein wenig räudigem Rock unterfüttert. Super Lo-Fi und -Key schlingern die neun Songs auf ihrem Debütalbum Mango zwischen Teenage-Angst (Braces) und Expat-Problemen (Passport) herum. File under: The Shaggs meet Sonic Youth mit ein wenig easy Antifolk Attitüde.“ M.Aniser (in tape.spex.de)

“Company Divine” is the second tape released by Kitchen Leg records, released on March 30th. It features songs recorded in a a long subterranean artspace with arches and columns, located under the Galleria Umberto I in Turin, with an impressive natural reverb. In the five songs, an archaic form of blues meets the most ecstatic psychedelia and enchanting folk whispers. This tape capture the harvest of two days of improvisations with Eternal Zio’s Rella The Woodcutter and Rob Maggioni, around some songs feeding on devotion.

Vesselroom Project inaugurates its new trajectory with
#1 / a fanzine and artist book exhibition //
+++++++++++++++++++
Zines and artist books are one of the most prolific media for experimentation. With innovative approaches and unconventional motifs, self-published books have become a melting pot, a flexible format open to all disciplines.
#1 elaborates a trajectory throughout a variety of subjects and conceptions. Their common ground is their constant renewal, their DIY spirit, and their aim to surpass the standard and embrace the extraordinary.
Accompanying the books, Edie. will show a site-specific piece, connecting her wall drawing with her artist book. Thus building up a bridge between the two parts, jumping out the paper to be immersed in the gallery discourse, while embodying the versatility of both media.
In connection to his photozines and bookobjects,
Sergej Vutuc aka Helmut Vutuc Lampshade will present a performance for us.
https://vimeo.com/33005437
#1 introduce the programs: Vesselroom Library and Vesselroom Specific. The first one devoted to enhance the visibility of the fruitful landscape of fanzines and artist books, and the promotion of DIY and independent publications. Whereas Vesselroom Specific wants to expand the limits of the gallery, exploring new models and new media.

Luca Domeneghetti and caffè Futuro presents:
///INFERNO/// (Italy 1911) — restored colored version—
directed by Giuseppe De Liguoro, Francesco Bertolini and Adolfo Padovan, from Dante Alighieri’s “Inferno” (first part of “La Divina Commedia”); cinematography by Emilio Roncarolo; designed by Sandro Properzi and Francesco Bertolini; CAST: Salvatore Papa (Dante Alighieri), Arturo Pirovano (Virgilio);
68 min / b&w / English intertitles
live sonorisation by Alessandro Quintavalle
This was a gigantic production for the time. Its use of sets and hour-plus runtime would help influence the movie-making industries on both sides of the Atlantic to produce longer and more epic films. Additionally, the film-making here isn’t bad for 1911 standards, but besides the sets and narrative, it’s still basic even for then. The superimposition and stop-substitution trick effects had been in films since nearly the beginning of the medium. And, the tableau style this film adopts, where lengthy title cards describe proceeding action was already becoming outdated. “L’Inferno” contains barely any scene dissection (there’s two insert shots I recall, and the one that isn’t of Lucifer is of awkward continuity); scenes are one continuous, usually unmoving long-shot view. For comparison, this film was released the same year as D.W. Griffith’s “The Lonedale Operator”; the difference in the use, or lack thereof, of the camera, editing and intertitles between the two films is striking. Griffith wasn’t the only one to have used varied camera positions, dissected scenes and used crosscutting and continuity editing to make his narratives more cinematic, either.

B/B/S (AIDAN BAKER (CA) + ERIK SKODVIN (NO) + ANDREA BELFI (IT)) at West Germany, March 1st 2014
There’s something darker happening in the artistic scene of Berlin….. three of the most important figures in experimental scenes are brought together. With Erik Skodvin manning the guitar, Andrea Belfi on percussion and Aidan Baker on bass and guitar, the result is one of a kind.
Their brand new second album is out now on Miasmah and will be presented on this tour / concert.

We do love tapes. There is millions of reasons. They remember me my early teenage time, when I could only buy tapes (yes, sometimes vinyls, but for sure not cds…). They remember listening to music while driving my 15 years old car-with bass fully blasting. They remember me one thing easy but hard to understand: sometimes we have to create situations they don’t exist. Record labels, venue in your living room, hosting a band from the other side of the world and makes them feeling home. It’s so easy to complain that no one want to listen to you and never record a song.
This is just to say, I adore people that starts a record label! It express deep love for music, community and humanity. And-here’s the magic of tapes-you can do with little, little money.
Our friend Micheal Anisier put on amazing shows since years in Berlin, as Noisekölln, shows with good music, nice people and lot of good discoveries (and fun!)…and two years ago he also started a tape label, Noisekölln tapes that produce a very nice split between Moon Wheel and Ill Winds.
Tonight, Noisekölln is putting out a great evening of gigs and their next release, Kynn/Klara Tal split tape, in limited edition of 20!
