We do love tapes. There is millions of reasons. They remember me my early teenage time, when I could only buy tapes (yes, sometimes vinyls, but for sure not cds…). They remember listening to music while driving my 15 years old car-with bass fully blasting. They remember me one thing easy but hard to understand: sometimes we have to create situations they don’t exist. Record labels, venue in your living room, hosting a band from the other side of the world and makes them feeling home. It’s so easy to complain that no one want to listen to you and never record a song.

This is just to say, I adore people that starts a record label! It express deep love for music, community and humanity. And-here’s the magic of tapes-you can do with little, little money.

Our friend Micheal Anisier put on amazing shows since years in Berlin, as Noisekölln, shows with good music, nice people and lot of good discoveries (and fun!)…and two years ago he also started a tape label, Noisekölln tapes that produce a very nice split between Moon Wheel and Ill Winds.

Tonight, Noisekölln is putting out a great evening of gigs and their next release,  Kynn/Klara Tal split tape, in limited edition of 20!

Wed 10 Oct, problem, two amazing gigs at the same time:

[#] Noisekolln Berlin presents: The Pharmacy live!

At 21 in Loophole, Boddinstrasse 60 NK

The Pharmacy is a psychedelic/indie punk band from New Orleans, Louisiana, consisting of three members: Scott Yoder (guitar, lead vocals), Brendhan Bowers (drums, backing vocals), and Stefan Rubicz (keyboards, backing vocals).” They just released their Album ‘Stoned Alone’ on seayou records!

Ill Winds are what sounds like a drumbox and guitars duo, operating in a strange zone recalling the vibe of the Swamp Room Records scene on the early 1990s.” (The Wire) Their debut was released earlier this year on Noisekölln Tapes.

[#] White Hills + Expo 70 in White Trash Schonhauser Allee 7 Mitte
(but thank god in the keller, not upstairs where people eat onion rings…)
Expo 70  is late night improvisations conceived by Justin Wright. Once a member of a group calling themselves Living Science Foundation from Los Angeles, California. Expo ’70 started with Justin Wright, Paul Kneejie (The Pope, Bipolar Beat, White Suits Brown Boots, The Manifolds, etc.) on bass and effects and Bryan Levine (Bipolar Bear), who both started Kill Shaman records. The result was an expansive array of soundscapes and drones inspired by many early gurus of experimental music from around the world.
With just the right blend of psychedelia and hypnotic grooves, White Hills weaves in and out of anthemic chants, deep space bleeps and other worldly madness for a mix that proves to be intoxicating. Since the release of the band’s debut CD, listeners have been praising their originality and unique brand of heavy space rock.

You are here AKA the Maze, online program of the massive 2 weeks festival in West Germany, Xberg by DuChamp

‘You Are Here Festival’ (aka The Maze!), is a festival started in New York and now moved to Berlin’s WestGermany venue in September 15-29 of 2012. The ‘You Are Here Festival’, will feature a life size sculptural maze which will occupy the entire venue. Performers, of which there will be three to five per night, will have to negotiate the confines of the maze in order to execute their performance. The ingenuity, flexibility, and at times, frustration involved with doing this is a central ingredient of the ‘You Are Here’ experience. ‘You Are Here’ also emphasizes the art and music of local scenes and communities. Each events is curated by a different artist/curator/creature based in Berlin

All events will be in West Germany, Kottbusser Tor,  and if you had been to Occultofest 2012 you know how to find it ! For timing, check this page

Hermetistasis is a dramatic, instantaneous, violent and physical performance piece representing the Seven Alchemic Principles as explained by Hermes Trismegistus and the Emerald Tablet. One person at a time will be admitted to follow the transformative path of self realisation and our oneness with God, Nature and The Universe, by way of seven unusual encounters with strangers and self throughout the maze. The goal of the strange and brutal performance, coinciding with the 7 Alchemic Principles, is to push the limits of everyday consciousness and existence, and give keys to the hidden sublimations of everyday life. Due to the unrestrained handling of entrants, all must sign a waiver of duty of care, and tickets will be extremely limited. Entrants are advised to come on time and register their place in the piece. West Germany 7 till 10pm.
