NIKA SON makes music with fieldrecordings, voice, analog and electronic instruments. Her music is composed of manipulated field-recordings, combined with instrumental fragments and sparse vocals. Playing live, her tracks are stretched and extended, using a groove box, varying instruments and contact-microphones. Sounds coming from somewhere deep down, circling, spinning and hovering between dark blue, red and grey. Some of her tracks have been released on compilations on m.mlabel, Alrealon Music and Wir rufen zurück (Demo-Dandies). As a DJ (Nikae) she plays records on a regular basis, mainly at the Golden Pudel Club in Hamburg, where she hosts, together with Ratkat, a monthly music and exhibition night.

BIBLO Istanbul based artist Biblo, has been creating music out of everyday noises, field recordings and lazy, confused pieces of beats for a while now. Her record “On Ugliness” was released in a limited edition of 200 pieces as the first ever record on Quetzi Records (a-musik/Cologne) in May 2010 and her latest album ’Projection’ isreleased in April 2012 through her bandcamp.
DUCHAMP is an Italian scientist, musician and curator based in Berlin, religiously devoted to drone. She’s mainly inspired by the sound of the hairdryer, drone superheroines such as CC Hennix, Eliane Radigue, Pauline Oliveros, a long series of dronester lovers and by the lack of God. Her debut album will be release on vynil in January for Boring Machines (IT).

FILIPE DIAS DE is a founding-member of Altes Finanzamt, musician and writer. After graduating in economics in Lisbon, moved to Asia (i.e. India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia) where he lived from 2006 till 2008. There he learnt sitar (Indian classical music), various Gamelan instruments (Balinese music) and Gender Wayang (Balinese xylophone used for shadow puppetry). After moving to Berlin (mid 2008), Filipe started exploring sitar in the context of experimental improvised music, developing new melodic constructions and also using objects.

Scott Sinclair – is an audiovisual artist, performer, and programmer. Largely self-taught, and with no allegiance to any single scene, he usually creates work that involves harsh and humorous collages of different media, from computer music and video art to vocal improvisation and custom-made costumes. Sinclair has a long history in improvised music, and is known for his brutal and unpredictable performances mixing more ‘serious’ and ‘difficult’ elements with ‘low brow’ trash, which has found audiences strangely entertained on many tours in Europe, Australia, Japan, Russia, and North America.

Occulto will be traveling with Du Champ to Belgium for a mini-tour. This is the first event, in the beautiful Bruges. It is presented by Donkey Kollektief, a very active group of people bringing good music and more in the city, and the location will be in the space of Die Keure, a well-known local typography/publishing house. ‘You Are Here Festival’ (aka The Maze!), is a festival started in New York and now moved to Berlin’s WestGermany venue in September 15-29 of 2012. The ‘You Are Here Festival’, will feature a life size sculptural maze which will occupy the entire venue. Performers, of which there will be three to five per night, will have to negotiate the confines of the maze in order to execute their performance. The ingenuity, flexibility, and at times, frustration involved with doing this is a central ingredient of the ‘You Are Here’ experience. ‘You Are Here’ also emphasizes the art and music of local scenes and communities. Each events is curated by a different artist/curator/creature based in Berlin

Hermetistasis is a dramatic, instantaneous, violent and physical performance piece representing the Seven Alchemic Principles as explained by Hermes Trismegistus and the Emerald Tablet. One person at a time will be admitted to follow the transformative path of self realisation and our oneness with God, Nature and The Universe, by way of seven unusual encounters with strangers and self throughout the maze. The goal of the strange and brutal performance, coinciding with the 7 Alchemic Principles, is to push the limits of everyday consciousness and existence, and give keys to the hidden sublimations of everyday life. Due to the unrestrained handling of entrants, all must sign a waiver of duty of care, and tickets will be extremely limited. Concern is the recording project of Portland-based Gordon Ashworth, who in a previous incarnation (as Oscillating Innards) delivered an altogether more brutal take on experimental music before planting his feet firmly in the world of shimmering, layered drones. His brother, Owen Ashworth, works under the Casiotone for the Painfully Alone banner. Gorden has often worked with his sibling in that project. Under the Concern moniker, Ashworth “proceeds to completely obliterate the vast majority of what passes for contemporary drone with a colossal shimmer that sounds like Tim Hecker reconfiguring classic Raga structures into something almost unspeakably beautiful. Amazing music” (Boomkat). Full-lengths releases on Digitalis and Peasant Magik have acted to establish Concern as a key figure in the field of contemporary drone explorers.
Matar Dolores is a collaborative effort consisting of Francesco Tignola and Giuseppe Esposito, active in Naples, in the south of Italy. Their sound research is based on a massive use of field recordings in a strict compositional perspective and clever breaks of “music”; their gigs usually hit audience for depth and dynamism. First official release, a c20 tape dedicated to philosopher Karl Polanyi, will see the light in early 2012 through the italian label Joy De Vivre.

Biblo aka Pinar Üzeltüzenci is a young musician from the growing experimental, hypnagogic and lo-fi music scene in Istanbul. In her music you feel the intensity again and again in an almost painful way when it peeps through the curtain of drones and noise. She is a sister in mind for acts like Inca Ore, Pocahaunted and Kuupuu, who amalgamate folk traditions, vanguard experiments, improvisation and outsider art.
