la gioiosa macchina da guerra

Fully Blown Dental Reform+Iku Sakan live at Bei Roy! by DuChamp

Wed Sept 19 at 21

Bei Roy, Ziegrastrasse 13 NK

are Marc Fantini + Leon T. Barnett + Danny O´Really

“Free jazz, noise, free noise, free form music, whatever you want to call it, these guys are experts at it. Combining the shrieks and improv of free jazz stuff like Ornette Coleman and Coltrane’s Ascencion with the harsh noise and bleak nihilism of the forward thinking modern noise movement, both Pollard and O’Really have been playing all over Europe as solo artists and have now combined forces to blow your mind.” Barry Spooren, Incubate festival, 2

This sat: Klaus and Can-d (IT) and I have no mouth and I must scream (BRL) @ Bei Roy by DuChamp

La Gioiosa macchina da guerra is delight to present:

Sat Sept 17th, at Bei Roy (Ziegrastraße 11-S. Sonnenallee)

Klaus and Can-d (psyche, IT) and I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream (Shoegaze/Psychedelic Rock/Post-Punk, BRL)

K & C are an Italian psychedelic trio that feature Piedmont’s local glories such as il Belva, drums (Hawaiian Baby Woodrose, Morning Telefilm), Alessio, guitar (Hawaiian Baby Woodrose, Mocker Monkeys, Morning Telefilm) and the recently berliner Fege, bass guitar (Queen Beee, The Hi Fevers, Fausto Maijstral and DuChamp as solo). K&C mix heavy psychedelia Oneida style, with Stoner, Dance, Kraut and good levels of surreal irony. Their main sources of inspiration are a semi-religious cult for Star Wars, Autonomous Astronauts Association, hummus, early Jovanotti, D.A.T.U.R.A. and other crap. They has started their activity in Nov 08, release an album, “Buddha Buddha Hey” produced by Rico of FiscerPrais studio, played in Italy, Slovenia, Belgium and the Netherlands. K & C consider theirselves as a goddam comet, so that would be the ONLY chance in life to see them performing in Berlin! don´t miss them!

IHNMAIMS from Berlin stole their band name from a dystopian short story by American SF author Harlan Ellison. Their musical influences include The Cure, My Bloody Valentine and The Velvet Underground. Lyrics go from nonsense to movie and book quotes to Philip K. Dick homages. They even wrote a song about that 80’s high school black comedy film “Heathers”. You know, the one where Winona Ryder and Christian Slater kill all the popular kids and make it look like suicides.

Preslav Literary School+Man from Uranus +Helge Meyer

Helge Meyer is an experimental electronic musician from Hamburg, Germany. Using a varying array of analogue Synthesizers and Boutique Pedals he tries to articulate his relations to musical subgenres such as Drone, Ambient or Noise.
Since 2009 he presented his improvisations in a number of concerts and came to share a stage with people like Eddie135, Balz Isler, Felix Kubin and Feine Trinkers Bei Pinkels Daheim.

As Preslav Literary School, Adam Thomas makes live tape collages using sounds drawn from an ever-growing archive of self-generated or discovered outsider noise, found sound and spoken word cassettes. A process of transference, overdubbing and live manipulation reworks these source materials into compelling, ambient broadcasts. Adam has released three albums, numerous live CDrs and played at venues and festivals throughout Europe.

Man From Uranus is a one man band from Cambridge, UK. His main influences are Science Fiction movie soundtracks from the sixties as well as the music of Sun Ra and Karlheinz Stockhausen. He has toured all across europe and released his music on several independent labels.

Catherine Christer Hennix (C.C. Hennix) (born 1948) is a Swedish-American composer, philosopher, scientist and visual artist associated with drone minimal music. Hennix was affiliated with MIT’s AI Lab in the late 1970s and was later employed as research professor of mathematics at SUNY New Paltz. She currently lives in Berlin. C.C. Hennix began her musical studies in the 1960s by exploring the music of the art music composers Iannis Xenakis and Karlheinz Stockhausen.  Hennix met La Monte Young and Hindustani raga master Pandit Pran Nath at the Nuits du Fondation Maeght festival in 1970 and pursued studies with both men during the 1970s. Hennix also drew inspiration from the Japanese Gagaku music and early vocal, thirteenth-century music of Perotinus and Leoninus. Hennix frequently worked together with the American anti-art philosopher, composer and violinist Henry Flynt.

Henry Flynt (born 1940 in Greensboro, North Carolina) is a philosopher, avant-garde musician, anti-art activist and exhibited artist often associated with Conceptual Art, Fluxus and Nihilism. Henry Flynt violin´s style fuse avant-garde noise music (particularly the hypnotic aspects of minimalism) with free-jazz and hillbilly country music. Some of his more dissonant violin performances can be compared to the no wave noise music violin performance art of Boris Policeband.

Talibam! live @ Bei Roy! Thu June 23rd by DuChamp

Tomorrow night, the awesome Talibam! live in Berlin @ Bei Roy (Ziegrastrasse 11, NK)

Hailing from New York, Talibam!, founded in 2003 by Kevin Shea and Matt Mottel has created most unique and exciting live shows and powerfully recorded documents. At a time when most culture sticks to conservative niche opportunities, Talibam! is interested in expansion and exploration; They manage to part the sea by not sticking to genre, aesthetic predisposition or the usual norms of what being a ‘band’ is. More inclined to put on a show that any and all will like, and not be stymied by ‘avant’ type casting, they have won over both unsuspecting and in the ‘know’ audiences worldwide. The energy of Kevin Shea’s full steam drumming is not to be missed, nor is the primal tone of Mottel’s synth run through a Marshall Half Stack.
Sam Kulik is a member of the bands Starring and Nervous Cabaret, and has toured and/or recorded with Skeletons, Amanda Palmer, Capillary Action, Lia Ices, Parts and Labor, Roswell Rudd, and Cynthia Hopkins. He has composed music for dance and theater works and was curator of John Zorn’s club The Stone in December 2009.
