‘You Are Here Festival’ (aka The Maze!), is a festival started in New York and now moved to Berlin’s WestGermany venue in September 15-29 of 2012. The ‘You Are Here Festival’, will feature a life size sculptural maze which will occupy the entire venue. Performers, of which there will be three to five per night, will have to negotiate the confines of the maze in order to execute their performance. The ingenuity, flexibility, and at times, frustration involved with doing this is a central ingredient of the ‘You Are Here’ experience. ‘You Are Here’ also emphasizes the art and music of local scenes and communities. Each events is curated by a different artist/curator/creature based in Berlin
All events will be in West Germany, Kottbusser Tor, and if you had been to Occultofest 2012 you know how to find it ! For timing, check this page

16.09 HERMETISTASIS: curated by Jimmy Trash & Professor Mugglestone
Hermetistasis is a dramatic, instantaneous, violent and physical performance piece representing the Seven Alchemic Principles as explained by Hermes Trismegistus and the Emerald Tablet. One person at a time will be admitted to follow the transformative path of self realisation and our oneness with God, Nature and The Universe, by way of seven unusual encounters with strangers and self throughout the maze. The goal of the strange and brutal performance, coinciding with the 7 Alchemic Principles, is to push the limits of everyday consciousness and existence, and give keys to the hidden sublimations of everyday life. Due to the unrestrained handling of entrants, all must sign a waiver of duty of care, and tickets will be extremely limited. Entrants are advised to come on time and register their place in the piece. West Germany 7 till 10pm.
17.09 LONELY IN THE DIGITAL WORLD?: curated by Jim Avignon w/Anxieteam, Motorcombo, DJ Netto, DJ Brutto

FAUSTO MAIJSTRAL (Musique Concrete, Drone/NZ,IT)
Fausto Maijstral is the duo of DuChamp (IT) and Will Gresson (NZ). Together they perform dense, musique concrete/drone pieces that explore memory and lived experience through heavily processed instruments and field recordings. They performed with Concern (US), Family Battle Snake (GR), Steindor Kristinsson (IS), Iku Sakan (JP), Bemydelay (IT) and Rella the Woodcutter (IT), and opened the 2011 edition of Occultofest in Ausland, Berlin.

KRAPOOLA (Impro, Sound Exploration/ES)
Krapoola is a tamer who explores the ways that materials interact when the entropicio happens. Noise is a part of this, not a reality by itself. Along this learning path a memory has formed itself and oblivion has appeared. The mutation has just begun. Regression? For his performances Krapoola’s self-built devices are the usual. They mostly proceed from detritus and go towards the secret. One of his tricks is to spin three records at the same time – one at normal speed, another one twice as fast or slow and one gets played backwards.

Fausto Maijstral (drone, saddest music in the world, IT/NZ/DE)
Fausto Maijstral is a multi-faceted band formed around the core duo of Italian scientist and musician DuChamp and sound artist Will Gresson of New Zealand. The band explores the middle ground between their mutual interest in experimental music, improvisation and the practice of field recording, performing largely improvised soundscapes with various instruments heavily processed during live performances. Individually both Rossella and Gresson have been involved in various solo and group performances, as well as contributing to several festivals in Berlin.
Olivier Newton Johnny (minimalism, NZ/FR/DE)
… sometimes you will be screaming your heart out , sometimes you are softly whispering – often you are delicately accompanied by our electric guitar / viola noise. other times your voice is actually supporting us, and quite constantly the three of us are battling each other – no one gives way and yet everyone shares a presence. We are Olivier Newton Johnny.
Olivier di Placido: electric guitar
Harmony Molina: voice
Johnny Chang: violin
Zabo Chabilant (drone, FR)
Zabo Chabiland is a French Berlin based artist working with various mediums.
She has never been trained as a musician and uses it as an advantage to create timeless soundscapes. Her favorite instrument is the
piano board she plays with electronic massagers. Zabo will perform “Piano Coude en C Majeur” a musical composition generated by the action of falling asleep on a keyboard. She is currently doing a Sleepy Tour….

Tonight, around 9.30 pm/10 pm La gioiosa macchina da guerra is very proud to present:
Currer Bells (AU/NZ) impro, concrete
Fausto Maijstral (NZ/IT/DE) drone, impro
live @ Loophole, Boddinstrasse 60 Berlin

Penpal band Currer Bells play to celebrate the rare occasion of both members (Angeline Chirnside, Germany, and Tim Coster, Australia) being in the same space-time. A long-distance collaborative recordings project since 2007, homemade tiny sounds and dissolving instrumental riffs are posted between Europe and the South Pacific, and slowly songs eventuate. On holiday, they also make it happen live, playing Berlin 2009 and touring half of the USA on the Metal Rouge honeymoon 2010. This show is their first since the release of their self-titled 2010 LP on Germany’s own Quetzi Records.

CURRER BELLS
emotional quandaries & textural intrigue
+ DuChamp, The Shitty Listener, Benjamin Laurent Aman
Since visual artist and experimental musician Benjamin Laurent Aman relocated from France to Berlin, he has become a rising star of the capital’s established underground scene, marking himself out as a performer who deals with texture, frequency and field recordings with a distinct and unafraid ear. Founder of the cult Razzle Dazzle label, Aman is also one half of the French/US improv-duo Crystal Plumage.
Jason Honea (The Shitty Listener) was born on Whidbey Island, Washington in 1965. Keyed into his musical side at an early age, his church life and street life reflected this enthusiasm in both love and wonder. Cleaning up creeks and forming bands remain as two top favorite things! This history-hobbyist, wanderer, singer, music maker, and drawer is a Pisces Catholic living and working in Berlin. Besides releasing and performing as the Shitty Listener, Jason also plays in a number of projects including the Child Readers with Loren Chasse, the Knit Separates with Loren Chasse and Glen Donaldson, and Teenage Panzerkorps. Shitty Listener marries a punk ethos to the Jewelled Antler aesthetic.
DuChamp is an Italian scientist, musician and curator living in Berlin. A true pedal junkie, she switched rapidly from garage punk to psychedelia and from psychedelia to experimental music; from guitar to bass guitar and from baritone guitar to accordion, having bought a third hand one after have seeing Pauline Oliveros in concert. She makes drones with accordion and fx, in the attempt to re-create the sense of bliss of hearing the vacuum cleaner and the hair dryer when she was a child.
